Cardiac Surgery in Patient with Dialysis Dependent Renal Failure

Abstract
Cardiac disease continues to be a major causse of death in patients undergoing long-term hemodialysis. In year 1999, 3 patients with end-stage renal disease dependent on maintenance hemodialysis underwent cardiac operation. Two had Aortic valve
replacement, One had coronary bypass operation. All patients were dialyzed within 12 hours before operation and were managed by Hemofiltration during cardiopulmonary bypass. The hemodialysis could be initiated in 2nd postoperative day. There was
no
postoperative death but one complication consisted af a postoperative bleeding from proximal anastomosis site of the saphenous vein graft. One patient underwent subsequent successful renal transplantation Cardiac operation is consiedered to be
performed
safely in patient with end-stage renal failure. Furthemore, improvement of cardiac disability will simplify continued management of the patient needing dialysis and provide a chance of succesful renal transplatation.
